Strip Sandwiches: Quilting Workshop (Friday, Nov. 22, 12-3 pm)
Create a dynamic improvisational design using 5” squares and scraps of fabric. In this workshop you will learn simple improv techniques and tips to easily incorporate them into larger projects. We will experiment with color placement, block layout, and learn how to sprinkle in surprise bits of colorful confetti. This is the perfect stash busting quilt.

Supply List
- 20-40 five-inch squares. (Any size square will work. If you have 4” squares hanging around, use those. If you want to make a very small quilt, use 3” squares.)
- An assortment of scraps that are at least 1” longer than your squares, they can be any width. You will want to have a variety of fabrics to choose from.
- Basic sewing supplies including: scissors, thread, rotary cutter and small mat, rulers, and seam ripper
- Sewing Machine that can straight stitch. Studio machines are available at Paper City Fabrics upon request.
About the Instructor
Timna Tarr comes from a long line of quilters but did not begin quilting until after studying art history in college. She bought her first longarm in 2001 and began quilting clients' quilts shortly thereafter. Timna’s own nationally award-winning quilts are in private and corporate collections and been seen in exhibits, publications, and on The Quilt Show and Quilting Arts TV. Timna is a designer for Studio e Fabrics, the author of Stitched Photo Mosaic Quilting, and is an in-demand teacher and speaker. She lives in South Hadley, Massachusetts.
